Is your family having to deal with addiction? Your loved brother, sister or parent has an addiction that you cannot stop. In many families across America today, addiction is destroying people. Addiction has a lot of do with people hurting inside of their hearts. Addiction is more than just shooting up heroin or smoking crack. Rehabs teach us that there are many deep rooted issues as to why someone turns to drugs/alcohol for help. It is possible to get help for addicted people today. However, there are many hurting families out there that need help on a regular basis.

Going through an alcohol and drug rehab takes good insurance and lots of money. Many medical billers have to turn addicts away because they do not have the proper private insurance to get them through the program. Many government programs that try to help addicts have long waiting lists. However, if someone is addicted to heroin badly, they need help within 24 hours. If they don't get the help that they need, then they often have an overdose that is often fatal. Heroin overdoses are on the rise in America today.

Many children that live in the suburbs are receiving training on how to deal with a person that is addicted to heroin. Many class are taught on how to call for help if you suspect your mother and father being addicted to drugs. On one 20/20 episode, a question was asked to the children. Someone asked them, "How many of you have seen one of these syringes on the floor?" Almost every kid raised their hand. It was even more shocking to see that the children knew that the drugs were for heroin.

How can you help a family member that has an addiction problem and no money to pay for treatment? For starters, get them to a local hospital as soon as possible. Often, hospitals have drug and alcohol programs set up to help addicts to get sober. Sometimes there is a waiting list. However, many hospitals have lists of treatment centers in your area that are low cost or have resources that can help you. Getting help for a loved one takes time. If you think about it, family members often find help when they least expect.

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes time to get out of your system. You often have to look at yourself and ask the question, "How bad do you want to get off drugs?" Families often have a hard time convincing their loved one to step taking drugs. It is often difficult for families to get help for their loved ones as well. Medical billing companies say that getting treatment all depends on the type of insurance that you have. It is often hard to find an insurance policy that covers treatment.
